Dario had actually come to Germany from Ecuador because of Stephanie, but the authorities were part of their relationship from day one. Over the next 15 years, they were to issue him a total of 10 visas - a long trail of papers, stamps, permits and restrictions connected Dario to Germany and yet always kept him at a distance. And then this: the First Mayor of Hamburg invites Dario to become German. A declaration of love?
